Specialties and Areas I Refer Out

I meet with individual adults (18+) for a wide range of issues. My specialty areas are anxiety, depression, and transitional life concerns.

  • Frequent worry, panic attacks, obsessive thinking
  • Sadness, feeling unfulfilled, low self-esteem, low motivation
  • Issues with sleep
  • Making life decisions about school, career, relationships, or dealing with changes such as retirement, relationship break-up, job loss

While I see a wide range of clients, here are some areas that I specialize in:

Young Adults / College Students
I have specific training and extensive experience working with young adults on issues of life transition, social anxiety, college academic challenges (e.g., time-management, academic anxiety), and career/future exploration.

Professionals
It is often hard for graduate-level professionals (e.g., mental health providers, physicians, lawyers, engineers, teachers) to seek services. The assumption of “having it all put together” can lead to avoidance of problematic patterns in your life. Perhaps high-standards and perfectionism have helped with success in the past but has left you feeling overwhelmed trying to live up to those standards. Over time, this can lead to excessive anxiety and poor self-worth. Therapy is a place to allow the vulnerability required to explore these patterns and make meaningful changes in life.

Disorders I will refer out for

Due to the limits of teletherapy and my clinical focus on the issues above, there are some populations and diagnostic areas that would benefit from other specialists and/or an agency with 24-hour crisis services available:

  • Children (under 18)
  • Unregulated Bipolar Disorder
  • Previously diagnosed personality disorder
  • Current suicidality
  • Eating Disorders
  • Extensive Trauma
  • Significant Substance Abuse
  • Schizophrenia, delusional disorder, or cognitive impairment
  • Formal Assessments (e.g., for court)

Note: I do not perform disability assessments, custody assessments, or any other forensic testing or assessment. I do not perform court-assigned anger-management or AODA assessment / treatment.  I do not see clients for any type of mandated treatment.
